Oxford, Mississippi — Oxford High School is thrilled to celebrate the achievements of two seniors, Everett Cassidy and Tyler Quinton, who have received early entry into highly competitive professional programs – one in pharmacy and the other in veterinary medicine.
Everett Cassidy has been accepted into The University of Mississippi’s School of Pharmacy Early Entry program, and Tyler Quinton into the Early Entry Program for the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University.
Upon successful completion of their required undergraduate coursework and program requirements, both students are guaranteed a seat in their designated professional schools – providing them an accelerated path toward their future careers.
“Being given the opportunity to go to college is not just a chance for me to learn, but it's a chance to shape my future, chase my dreams, and unlock my fullest potential,” said OHS student Tyler Quinton.
Both students have been actively involved in AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), a program designed to prepare students for college readiness and success. The Oxford School District will celebrate its fifth graduating class of AVID students this year, with the program offering opportunities for participation starting in 6th grade.
“I am beyond excited to gain a new perspective of Oxford as I begin my journey at Ole Miss this fall! Getting accepted into the Early Entry Pharmacy Program, along with the Honors College, reassures me in my confidence to achieve big goals,” said OHS student Everett Cassidy. “I know I wouldn’t have made it this far without the support of the AVID program and Mrs. Lauzon. That extra boost of encouragement has made all the difference, both inside and outside of school. In a few years, I’ll look back and realize what a blessing it was to be a part of the AVID family!”
Join us in congratulating Everett and Tyler for their exceptional accomplishments! We wish them continued success in their future academic endeavors.
