OSD Students and Staff Support Local Food Pantry Through Empty Bowls Fundraiser
Oxford, Mississippi — Oxford School District students, staff, and leaders joined the community today in supporting the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser, benefiting the local food pantry. From creating bowls and preparing soup to serving the community, OSD played a valuable role in today’s successful event.
Oxford School District’s Good Food for Oxford Schools team at Della Davidson Elementary School and students in Oxford High School ceramics classes contributed to the event.
The Della Davidson child nutrition team prepared taco soup to be served, while high school ceramics students created handmade bowls.
Last fall, ceramics students had the opportunity to meet Empty Bowls coordinator Monte Ochs, who shared about the impact of the event and worked alongside them to glaze several pieces donated to this year’s fundraiser.
At the fundraiser, attendees select a bowl, enjoy a meal, and take the bowl home as a reminder of the cause. We are grateful to be part of a meaningful community effort to support those in need.
About Empty Bowls
The Pantry of Oxford and Lafayette County hosts its biggest annual fundraiser, Empty Bowls, a community-driven event supporting local food security efforts. Local artists, restaurants, and volunteers came together to donate handmade ceramic bowls, soup, and their time to make the event a success.
