Grading Information in PowerSchool (Pre-K and Kindergarten)
Teachers will mark each standard as M (mastered) or NM (not mastered) in PowerSchool.
Parents can see their student’s scores by logging into PowerSchool, clicking on the “Standards Grades” tab under the student’s name, and clicking the arrow beside the course name. (The first time parents login, please check the box at the top right that says “Show Standards With No Grades.” This will show all standards for the course.)

Grading Information in PowerSchool (Grades 1-5)
Students in grades 1-5 will receive a score for each standard in the course according to the following scale:
Grade | Range | |
---|---|---|
Mastery | A | 90% to 100% |
B | 80% to 89% | |
C | 70% to 79% | |
NM | 69% and lower (Skill is NOT mastered.) |
We want to clearly communicate how your student will be scored on each learning standard.
- During each unit in our core classes, teachers will administer at least two "formative" assessments. These are quick evaluations of the learning process, helping teachers identify which students are doing well and which may need extra support.
- At the end of the unit, there will be a “summative” assessment covering all the unit's content.
- For example…if a math standard covers addition and subtraction, the teacher may give a formative on addition to gauge how the students are doing with that concept. The teacher will also give a formative on subtraction to see how students are doing with that component. Then at the end of the unit, the teacher will give a summative assessment that tests the students on BOTH addition and subtraction.
- By clicking on the (i) beside the course name in PowerSchool, you can see all the formative and summative assignments and grades listed.

-
- The formative assessments and the summative assessment will average together to give each student an OVERALL score for the standard. However, to ensure that the final grade accurately represents a student's learning progress and knowledge at the end of the unit, we will use the summative assessment score as the final standard grade if it exceeds the previous average.
- By clicking the tab “Standards Grades” under your student’s name in PowerSchool, parents can see the final score for each standard.

- Standards labeled as NM have not been mastered. Students will have an opportunity at some point in the course to reassess standards to encourage every student to achieve his/ her highest potential.
