Time-Sensitive Scholarships
Samsung American Legion Scholarship
Application deadline: Scholarship applicants must complete and submit their online application prior to 11:59 p.m. of Day 1 of their respective American Legion Boys State or American Legion Girls State program.
Scholarship amount: $1,250 to $10,000.
Worldwide electronics leader Samsung endowed a scholarship fund of $5 million to be administered by the American Legion in 1996. Meant to show appreciation for U.S. veterans who came to Korea’s aid during its struggle against communist forces in the Korean War, the Samsung American Legion Scholarship Program established a series of scholarships derived from interest and other income from the principal amount. Scholarship applications are limited to students between their junior and senior years of high school who attend the current session of either an American Legion Boys State or Girls State.
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Application deadline: June 30.
The American Legion Baseball Scholarship
Application deadline: July 15, 2026.
Scholarship amount: $500.
Scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive their scholarships immediately upon graduation from an accredited high school. Scholarship winners must utilize the total award with eight years of their graduation date.
The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary offer numerous scholarships to students, military members, and their dependents. Information can also be obtained from your local American Legion Post or the Department Headquarters at mslegion27@gmail.com.
Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant (MESG)
Application deadline: September 15.
Scholarship amount: $2,500 per year.
Student must have a 29 on the ACT and a 3.5 GPA.
Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant (MTAG)
Application opens: October 1.
Application deadline: September 15.
Scholarship amount: $500 per year for freshmen and sophomores; $1,000 per year for juniors and seniors.
Student must be a legal resident of MS for one year prior to application. The student must also have a 2.5 grade point average or higher and minimum of 15 on the ACT.
Ongoing Scholarships
Army R.O.T.C.
Application deadline: Ongoing.
Scholarship amount: Full tuition in addition to allowances for books and fees. Students are also eligible for a monthly living stipend.
BigFuture Scholarships
Application deadline: Ongoing.
Scholarship amount: Varying.
There are no essay, minimum GPA, test score, or citizenship requirements. It’s easy to enter scholarship drawings each month. Simply complete one of the steps before the deadline, and you’ll be automatically entered to win $500 and $40,000! Students whose families earn less than $60,000 a year have extra chances at scholarships because they’re eligible for two entries in each drawing.
Children of Fallen Patriots Scholarship
Application deadline: Ongoing.
Scholarship amount: Varying amounts.
This scholarship works to ensure that every child of a fallen patriot receives all necessary college funding. They are dedicated to serving the families of services members from all branches of the armed forces who have died as a result of combat casualties, military training accidents, serve related illnesses, suicide, as well as other duty related deaths as ruled by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
Starbucks College Achievement Plan
Application deadline: Ongoing.
Scholarship amount: Full tuition.
